Our Work

The IHA, as it has throughout its 98 year life, is constantly reappraising its approach. Recent changes have included the organisation of a European Symposium to develop it's government lobby and provide an illustration approach for trade association member organisations to take a proactive position with national and international centres of government or influence.

Outside consultants now advise from an objective and experienced viewpoint in the field of Business Development, a task which takes into account all the more than 20 national associations and the many more associate members.

Our Mission
TO PRESERVE, PROTECT AND PROMOTE:
• the international standing of its national associations
• the commercial prospects of their individual members
• the consumer interest through good trading principles and environmental  concern

MORE RELEVANT THAN EVER BEFORE
The housewares, hardware and ironmongery businesses of the world provide a product range that grows with every year. With the increasing emphasis on international trading, the development of more complex business regulations and the legitimate rise in consumer protection legislation; manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers alike look to their professional associations to promote their interests, and influence the future. For this market place, it is the IHA which performs those tasks at international level - acting as the hub in the wheel for some 40,000 individual retail businesses.
